With the use of international stem cell research, stem cell therapy Mexico is available to anyone who needs it. This is stem cell research that is done with non-controversial stem cells from placentas. Many people can benefit from stem cell research that is done in Mexico. These cells are used to treat illnesses like diabetes, HIV, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis C, muscular dystrophy and even gangrene. There are ways to legally receive the treatment you need even if you cannot receive it within the United States.

Many times Tijuana stem cell therapy will help patients who have had other treatments fail to cure their disease. Not does stem cell research use non-controversial stem cells from placentas but also stem cells that are directly from the person being treated. This way every individual who takes part in this kind of therapy will have a treatment that is created just for them. The source of the issue is pinpointed and the cells are regenerated so that the organs and tissues in the body become well again. It is important to note again that the stem cells are from the person being treated. This means that rejection and other side effects will more than likely not happen.

When getting COPD treatment Mexico, it is important to fully research the facility that you will be using. Many times in Mexico, facilities are not required to keep the same standards of practice. This can include anything from the cleanliness of the facility to the actual procedure and how it is done. Since this has been around for many years now, there are various websites and forums that you can check out to see if this is a good option for you and the kind of illness that you have. Also, it is important to stay in constant contact with your physician and let them know exactly what you are doing.

When deciding to use stem cell research for your heart, cardiac treatment Mexico can be a good option. Of course, just like with any treatment it is important to research the medical facility and the doctors that you will be in contact with. Using stem cells to treat your heart can actually bring you a full life and you can be a walking miracle. When the heart’s cells are renewed, your heart will become stronger and you will be a part of this new technology.

Autism Treatment â?? Respen-A dosages and Autism

Edit Article |

]]>

The fact that Respen-A contains an ingredient that comes from a drug has raised some questions, and concerns, from some parents. Respen-A has an active ingredient called Reserpine which comes from an Indian herb named rauwolfia serpentine, also known as snakeroot. In 1955 Reserpine was approved for the treatment of hypertension by the FDA. But now, we don’t see Reserpine being used to a significant degree to treat hypertension any more. Nowadays there are many other medications to treat high blood pressure, even though it was approved for that treatment. And in Respen-A, you are getting between 10 and 50 times less Reserpine since the dose for high blood pressure was .1 – .5 mg and Respen-A has .01 mg.

November 2008 was about when Respen-A was first introduced to the Autism community. At that time, a small study was done looking at some kids from November 2008 until November 2009. Other parents began using this for their children after the results were found to be quite promising and a subsequent press release was issued. In 1957 in the Journal of Mental Disorders and Disease was a study done that used Reserpine on a group of kids with Autism. They used an oral elixir with a dose of between 3 â?? 7 mg. The FDA approved treatment dose for hypertension was .1 – .5 mg and this dose was an oral elixir between 3 and 7 mg. The findings were that these children showed improvement in verbal communication, improved socialization, improved eye contact, improved overall awareness, less self stimulatory behaviors, and improved willingness to socialize and play, etc. These improvements in children using Respen-A are also the same types of improvements that I see with children using other therapies such as Methyl B-12.

The side effects that have been reported are things that are not too significant like dry mouths or excessive sleepiness. But, there were some adverse neurological behaviors that manifested in some children, similar to symptoms seen in Parkinson’s, when the doses were pushed up to 10 â?? 12 mg. Today’s Respen-A patch has 200 â?? 700 times less Reserpine than was used in that study back in 1957. So while the dose of Reserpine in Respen-A is not even close to the doses used in the study, many of the benefits seen are. So those improvements seen in eye contact, the improvement in speech in quality, deliberateness and appropriateness, the improvement in socialization, and the improvement in overall awareness is what I have also seen in patents in my practice who are using Respen-A. So, I think there is a big misconception out there about Respen-A and the amounts of Reserpine used. I wanted to share this information with you so can see the amounts used in the 1957 study, the amounts used in treatments for hypertension as well as the amounts used in Respen-A.

Restless Leg Syndrome Treatment â?? for a Good Nights Sleep

]]>

While the exact numbers are not known it is thought that several million people lose sleep every night because of restless leg syndrome. The exact cause of this frustrating and painful condition is not exactly known but the majority of studies done point to some form of brain chemistry problem. For the people who suffer from it finding a restless leg syndrome treatment is at the forefront of their needs.

It is classified as a neurological disorder that causes a crawling or tingling sensation along the upper legs that makes those who suffer its effects feel an uncontrollable urge to get up and move around to find relief. The sensations are often described as if an insect or something is crawling just under the skin of the legs, along with burning and tugging sensations. These sensations can be merely annoying all the way to excruciating pain.

When it comes to a restless leg syndrome treatment there are two basic approaches; the natural holistic route or using over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications. They are both effective at relieving restless leg syndromes symptoms depending on the severity.

Natural Treatments for Restless Leg Syndrome

The primary symptom of needing to get up and walk around works for the majority of people who have this disorder. Unfortunately the symptoms most often appear in the evening or just as the person is falling asleep causing them to lose sleep and suffer many sleepless nights. For these people a more permanent treatment is needed.

People with mild to moderate symptoms are recommended to make certain lifestyle changes which are shown to help with the symptoms. Stopping the use of alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine is the first recommendation followed by dietary changes that include supplements to offset deficiencies of iron folate and magnesium. In fact there is a growing consensus that an iron deficiency may be one of the causes of RLS.

Heat applied to the legs by taking a warm bath, using a heating pad or hot water bottle, or massaging a liniment such as Icy/Hot are all good ways to increase blood flow to the legs. Increased blood circulation to the affected areas provides soothing relief of the symptoms.

Prescription Drug Therapy for Restless Leg Syndrome

For those who experience more severe symptoms prescription drugs may provide levels of relief that the more natural therapies cannot match. Again, these only treat the symptoms as no known sure exists at this time. Four classes of drugs are currently used for the treatment of restless leg syndrome.

1. Dopaminergics â?? Used primarily to treat Parkinson’s disease, they increase the level of dopamine in the brain.

2. Benzodiazepines â?? Works as a sedative on the central nervous system. Prescribed primarily to help RLS sufferers sleep through the night.

3. Opiates â?? These drugs are used primarily to relieve pain and have been found to be effective in the treatment of restless leg syndrome.

4. Anticonvulsants â?? A class of drugs that work by suppressing sensory disturbances and severe muscle spasms.

The first step to finding a restless leg syndrome treatment is visiting a doctor. By getting the right diagnosis a treatment regimen can be built that best treats the individual symptoms. Every person is different and what works for one may not work as well for someone else.

Feverfew Migraine â?? A Natural Treatment

Edit Article |

Posted: Aug 13, 2010 |

]]>

Migraine is an intensive pain in the head or headache. This is one of the intolerable pains that a certain individual could acquire. The head wherein most of the migraine symptoms occur encloses the brain. The brain functions together with the nervous system of the human body. The nervous system is divided into two major systems. The central nervous system includes the spinal chord and the brain while the other one is the peripheral nervous system which includes the nerves that connect to the brain and the spinal cord. Treating migraine is not a very easy step. Although there are many natural methods used in lessening the pain of this neurological syndrome, curing it with feverfew migraine is not a big problem anymore.  A fact is that you are not required spending a lot of money from purchasing expensive medicines.

Migraines are caused by too much stress not just physical but emotional and mental stress too. This syndrome for some women may be a cause of some hormonal changes or occurrences in their body. Exposure from too much sunlight is said to be a great contributor for migraines to trigger. Blurry and hazy visions, nausea resulting to vomiting, too much headaches and some numbness are the common symptoms of migraines. Once it attacks always stay in a dark room and any noise. Take a cold shower and put a cold cloth behind your neck to lessen the pain. Eat fruits and foods that are rich in vitamins C and B3. Providing feverfew migraines has a possibility to lessen or reduce the pain.

There are many natural ways in treating migraines and it includes feverfew. What is a feverfew by the way? Feverfew or the Tanacetum parthenium is under the family of herbs. Specifically it belongs to the family of the daisies. Many people long time ago used this herb as a treatment for different kinds of illness since modern medicines in form of drugs are not created at that time yet. It has an anti-inflammatory property which makes it the best and natural substitute for illness and diseases such as:

colitis,
Parkinson’s disease,
Hepatitis and more.

This plant is very easy to take care of; so growing it in your home is not a big problem since it doesn’t require too much of your attention. Although feverfew has a lot of uses as herbal medicines there are also its own side effects. What are these side effects?

Diarrhea is one of its side effects.
Anxiety,
nausea resulting to vomiting,
some digestive disorders and
swollen parts of the face

These are included in the bad effects of using feverfew migraines.

Many studies proved that feverfew can prevent the attack of migraines. This herb might contain a certain substance on it that can prevent the blood vessels in the brain to dilate and release chemicals that causes the pain. Based in many laboratory studies that shows the different kinds of effects of the feverfew as a natural cure for migraine; persons attacked with migraine should use this regularly or daily. Two capsules a day is best if applied as a dried herb for two or more years.

Although feverfew can relieve migraine syndrome, it is still better and recommendable to see a licensed doctor for further knowledge about migraines. There are times that you thought it is just a simple migraine but the truth is it develops into severe illness. Aiding this annoying headache through feverfew migraine is a very pleasant and smart idea, so heal more, and save more!

Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless leg syndrome is a common cause of painful legs. The leg pain of restless leg syndrome typically eases with motion of the legs and becomes more noticeable at rest. Restless leg syndrome also features worsening of symptoms during the early evening or later at night. The characteristic nighttime worsening of symptoms in persons with restless legs syndrome frequency leads to insomnia.

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) affects up to 10% of American adults. They may have difficulty lying down and sleeping, or sitting down and relaxing, because their legs just won’t let them. Air travel and long car trips are a trial. Even enjoying a television show may be more than they can manage.

Restless leg syndrome usually begins slowly. Over time, the legs become more affected. Less frequently, restless leg syndrome can affect the arms.

What Are Common Signs And Symptoms Of Restless Legs?

As described above, people with RLS feel uncomfortable sensations in their legs, especially when sitting or lying down, accompanied by an irresistible urge to move about. These sensations usually occur deep inside the leg, between the knee and ankle; more rarely, they occur in the feet, thighs, arms, and hands. Although the sensations can occur on just one side of the body, they most often affect both sides.

Because moving the legs (or other affected parts of the body) relieves the discomfort, people with RLS often keep their legs in motion to minimize or prevent the sensations. They may pace the floor, constantly move their legs while sitting, and toss and turn in bed.

Most people find the symptoms to be less noticeable during the day and more pronounced in the evening or at night, especially during the onset of sleep. For many people, the symptoms disappear by early morning, allowing for more refreshing sleep at that time. Other triggering situations are periods of inactivity such as long car trips, sitting in a movie theater, long-distance flights, immobilization in a cast, or relaxation exercises.

What Causes Restless Legs Syndrome?

In other cases, RLS appears to be related to the following factors or conditions, although researchers do not yet know if these factors actually cause RLS.

* People with low iron levels or anemia may be prone to developing RLS. Once iron levels or anemia is corrected, patients may see a reduction in symptoms.
* Chronic diseases such as kidney failure, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and peripheral neuropathy are associated with RLS. Treating the underlying condition often provides relief from RLS symptoms.
* Some pregnant women experience RLS, especially in their last trimester. For most of these women, symptoms usually disappear within 4 weeks after delivery.
* Certain medications-such as antinausea drugs (prochlorperazine or metoclopramide), antiseizure drugs (phenytoin or droperidol), antipsychotic drugs (haloperidol or phenothiazine derivatives), and some cold and allergy medications-may aggravate symptoms. Patients can talk with their physicians about the possibility of changing medications.

Researchers also have found that caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco may aggravate or trigger symptoms in patients who are predisposed to develop RLS. Some studies have shown that a reduction or complete elimination of such substances may relieve symptoms, although it remains unclear whether elimination of such substances can prevent RLS symptoms from occurring at all.

Is There Any Treatment?

For those with mild to moderate symptoms, many physicians suggest certain lifestyle changes and activities to reduce or eliminate symptoms. Decreased use of caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco may provide some relief. Physicians may suggest that certain individuals take supplements to correct deficiencies in iron, folate, and magnesium. Taking a hot bath, massaging the legs, or using a heating pad or ice pack can help relieve symptoms in some patients.

Physicians also may suggest a variety of medications to treat RLS, including dopaminergics, benzodiazepines (central nervous system depressants), opioids, and anticonvulsants. In 2005, ropinirole became the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration specifically for the treatment of moderate to severe RLS.

What Is The Prognosis?

RLS is generally a life-long condition for which there is no cure. Symptoms may gradually worsen with age. Nevertheless, current therapies can control the disorder, minimizing symptoms and increasing periods of restful sleep. In addition, some patients have remissions, periods in which symptoms decrease or disappear for days, weeks, or months, although symptoms usually eventually reappear.

Glaucoma results when the pressure within the eye is high enough to be detrimental to the normal functioning of these nerve fibres, some of which stop functioning.  Homeopathy Treatment Eczema is a general term that describes an inflammation of the skin which is also known as dermatitis. There are different types of eczema like seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis etc. Though the disorder can have many causes and occur in many forms, it usually involves swollen, reddened and itchy skin. Eczema is a common condition that isn’t life-threatening or contagious. But, it can make us feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. A combination of self-care steps and medications can help treat dermatitis. There are several types of eczema such as: Each has distinct signs and symptoms. Common signs and symptoms of eczema include redness, swelling, itching and skin lesions. A number of health conditions, allergies, genetic factors, physical and mental stressors, and irritants can cause eczema.

Contact dermatitis results from direct contact with one of many irritants or allergens. Common irritants include laundry soap, skin soaps or detergents, and cleaning products. Possible allergens include rubber; metals, such as nickel; jewelry; perfume; cosmetics; weeds, such as poison ivy; and neomycin, a common ingredient in topical antibiotic creams. It takes a greater amount of contact with an irritant over a longer time to cause dermatitis than it takes for an allergen. If you’re sensitized to an allergen, just brief exposure to a small amount of it can cause dermatitis. Once you develop sensitivity to an allergen, you typically have it for life.
Neurodermatitis typically develops when something has created an itchy sensation in a specific area of our skin. This irritation may lead to rub or scratch skin repeatedly in that area. Common locations include ankles, wrist, outer forearm or arm, and the back of the neck. Neurodermatitis may also be associated with other skin conditions, such as dry skin, eczema or psoriasis. Contact dermatitis caused by allergens doesn’t seem to be a factor, though.
Seborrheic dermatitis causes a red rash with yellowish and somewhat “oily” scales, usually on the scalp. It’s common in people with oily skin or hair, and it may come and go depending on the season of the year. It may occur during times of physical stress, travel or in people who have neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease. In infants, this disorder is known as cradle cap.
Stasis dermatitis can occur when fluid accumulates in the tissues just beneath your skin, and typically involves the lower leg. The extra fluid interferes with our blood’s ability to nourish the skin and places extra pressure against skin from underneath. Varicose veins and other chronic conditions that affect circulation in legs often cause this fluid buildup.
Atopic dermatitis often occurs with allergies and frequently runs in families in which members have asthma or hay fever. It usually begins in infancy and may vary in severity during childhood and adolescence. It tends to become less of a problem in adulthood, unless we are exposed to allergens or irritants in the workplace. The exact cause of this disorder is unknown, but is likely due to a combination of dry, irritable skin together with a malfunction in the body’s immune system. Stress can exacerbate atopic dermatitis, but it doesn’t cause it.
Perioral dermatitis may be a form of the skin disorder rosacea, adult acne or seborrheic dermatitis, involving the skin around the mouth or nose. The exact cause is unknown, but makeup, moisturizers, topical corticosteroids or some dental products containing fluoride may play a role.

Preventing contact dermatitis means avoiding coming into contact with those substances, such as poison ivy or harsh soaps that may cause it. Try to identify and avoid triggers that worsen the inflammation. Rapid changes of temperature, sweating and stress can worsen some forms of dermatitis. Avoid direct contact with wool products, such as rugs, bedding and clothes, as well as harsh soaps and detergents. Avoiding dry skin may be one factor in helping you prevent future bouts of dermatitis.

 Tips for redused itching :

Bathe less frequently. Most people who are prone to dermatitis don’t need to bathe daily. Try going a day or two without a shower or bath. When you do bathe, limit yourself to 15 to 20 minutes, and use warm, rather than hot, water.
Use only mild soaps. Choose soaps, such as Basis, Dove or Olay, that clean without excessively removing natural oils. Deodorant and antibacterial soaps may be more drying to your skin. Use soap only on your face, underarms, genital areas, hands and feet. Use clear water elsewhere.
Dry yourself carefully. Brush your skin rapidly with the palms of your hands, or gently pat your skin dry with a towel after bathing.
Moisturize your skin. Seal in moisture, while your skin is still damp, with oil or cream. Pay special attention to your legs, arms, back and the sides of your body. If your skin is already dry, consider using a lubricating cream made for dry skin.

These steps can help you manage dermatitis:

Apply an anti-itch cream or calamine lotion to the affected area.
Apply cool, wet compresses.
Take a comfortably cool bath.
Avoid scratching whenever possible.
Wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.

 Homeopathy Treatment  in Eczema:
Homeopathy can help in eczema by decreasing the susceptibility to various allergens and irritants. The extent of results depends upon the type of eczema, type of lifestyle improvement the patient is able to make. Strong family history of atopy, asthma or allergy may become a hurdle in the response to the treatment of eczema in the initial phase of the illness but these influences can be reduced with homeopathic medicines over a period of time. Constitutional homeopathic treatment approach is the best way to treat eczema permanently. Homeopathy has been found useful in all types of eczema.

MIGRAINE HOMEOPATHY TREATMENT

researchers think migraines may be caused by functional changes in the trigeminal nerve system, a major pain pathway in nervous system, and by imbalances in brain chemicals, including serotonin, which plays a regulatory role for pain messages going through this pathway. During a headache, serotonin levels drop. Researchers believe this causes the trigeminal nerve to release substances called neuropeptides, which travel to your brain’s outer covering (meninges).

Treatment for Insomnia

Edit Article |

Posted: Nov 29, 2010 |

]]>

Insomnia is a sleep disorder whereby the patient faces difficulty in falling asleep and remaining asleep. Insomnia includes an array of sleep disorders involving quality and quantity of sleep. The condition may last from few days to many months and years, depending upon its type. The disorder may be transient or temporary, acute or short term and chronic or even long term.

Causes of Insomnia

Insomnia can occur due to a number of physiological and psychological reasons. Chronic insomnia often occurs due to the presence of certain medical conditions. Transient insomnia on the other hand may be caused by a stressful life event. Various causes of insomnia include:

Psychological factors –anxiety, depression, mania, schizophrenia, stress
Medical conditions – arthritis, asthma, brain tumors and lesions, chronic fatigue and pain, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, GERD, hyperthyroidism, sleep apnea, stroke and Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases
Medicines – antidepressants, stimulants, medications for heart, blood pressure, weight loss, allergy, decongestants, antihistamines, ephedrine, amphetamines, methamphetamine, and some antibiotics
Interruption in circadian rhythm – jet lags, changes in working shifts, experiencing high altitudes, presence of noise, too hot or cold temperatures
Smoking, alcohol, drug usage and caffeine consumption
Other factors – pregnancy, changes in estrogen and other hormone levels during menstruation, genetic conditions, sleeping next to someone who snores, an overactive mind

Effects of Insomnia

Insomnia affects millions of people every year. According to some estimates, 32 million people suffer from insomnia in America alone, which takes its prevalence rate up to 11.76% for the country. Not only sleep pattern disturbances are included in the effects of insomnia, but it also affects the general health and the overall quality of the sufferer’s life. Common effects include reduced energy level, fatigue, inability to concentrate, blurred vision, irritability, and sometimes even hallucinations.

People at higher risk for insomnia include travelers, shift workers, alcoholics, drug users, older people, pregnant and menopausal women, students, adolescents and young adults and people with mental disorders.

Insomnia Medications

Whereas transient insomnia resolves itself when the cause is eliminated, many people seek medical help for chronic insomnia. While both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments are used, prescribing sleep drugs to insomnia sufferers is a common practice.

According to estimates, about 20% of American adults use some form of prescription or non-prescription drugs to aid sleep. Various insomnia prescription drugs include benzodiazepines, non- benzodiazepines and antidepressants. These drugs have a number of unpleasant side effects.

While prescription drugs for insomnia generally produce symptoms like dizziness, headaches and fatigue. They can also produce rather worrisome symptoms including respiratory problems, severe allergic reactions, urinary incontinence, gastrointestinal disturbances and disturbed heart rhythm. The user can even become addictive to these drugs. Whereas, NightCalm is a 100% natural sleeping supplement containing 5HTP, melatonin and various other sleep aiding ingredients.

An Effective Insomnia Treatment

An effective insomnia treatment involves the right diagnosis and understanding of the precise trigger of it and then using a safe insomnia aid in consultation with your doctor.

The 5-HTP causes of insomnia linked to reduced serotonin levels in the body are often underestimated. Reduced serotonin levels lead to insomnia among other conditions. Taking 5-HTP based supplements can prove to be very effective in such cases.

If you want to avoid the side effects and addiction of prescription drugs, use NightCalm, which contains 200 mg of 5HTP among other sleep inducing herbs.

Health hazards of using HGH injections

Growth hormone was first identified in the 1920s as a growth promoting factor. By mid to late 1980s, scientists were able to produce this 191-residue protein hormone in bacteria using recombinant DNA technology. With the availability of large quantities of this recombinant hormone, therapeutic uses of growth hormone became possible and HGH supplements are now available in several forms and formulations.

Constipation – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

]]>

Constipation is defined as the inability to pass feces or having difficulty passing feces, because it is dry or hardened. Some sources define constipation as having three or less bowel movements per week, but that is a generalization. If you normally have 2 or 3 bowel movements per day, 3 per week would indicate constipation. If three movements per week is normal for you, though, then there is no reason for concern.

Causes of constipation

Constipation is caused by a wide variety of problems that range from simply not drinking enough liquids to having a very low fibre diet. Medications such as iron and calcium supplements, drugs used to treat allergies, cold, hypertension, depression, antacids, diuretics (drugs which increase the flow of urine), non-steroid and anti-inflammatory drugs also cause constipation. Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord disease and paralysis are the other known causes. Weakness of the abdomen muscles and pelvic floor also lead to constipation, especially in the case of the elderly.

Ingestion of little water. Columbus retains lees to extract it of the same ones when he detects that this is not abundant in the organism. To drink in abundance is a way of which the remainders are not left brakings in the colon and can leave faster and easily. In addition, when the organism extracts the water of lees, the leftover rest are more difficult to evacuate and, in most of the cases, this evacuation is painful.

Symptoms

Symptoms associated with constipation include infrequent bowel movements, hard stools, straining when passing a motion, cramps, abdominal bloating, flatulence, with a desire to defecate but an inability to pass a stool. Related symptoms include headaches, halitosis, coated tongue, pale complexion, and dizziness.

Symptoms of constipation include infrequent stools, hard stools, and excessive straining to move the bowels. Frequency of bowel movements and severity of symptoms may vary from person to person.

Constipation Cures

The most common cause of constipation is an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. Sometimes, changing your eating habits and beginning a regular exercise regimen can effectively eliminate constipation symptoms. Other times, your physician may wish to run tests to find out if there is a medical cause for your constipation – constipation is often the symptom of a more serious illness or disease.

Constipation treatment

Pears are more get beneficial in the treatment of constipation. Patients get suffering from chronic constipation should adopt an restricted diet of this fruit or it’s juice for a few days, but in the ordinary cases, a medium-sized pear taken after dinner or with breakfast will have the desired effect.

Lubricants grease the stool, enabling it to move through the intestine more easily. Mineral oil is the most common example.

A warm-water or mineral oil enema can relieve constipation, and a non-digestible sugar (lactulose) or special electrolyte solution is recommended for adults and older children with stubborn symptoms.

Rectal suppositories – helpful in providing lubrication and in stimulating the defecation reflex. They are usually composed of glycerin, which is sometimes blended with sodium sterate, a fatty acid. Bisacodyl-containing suppositories have added potency, because they act directly on the bowel to stimulate emptying.

Getting Treatment for Restless Leg Syndrome

Edit Article |

]]>

Everyday, or evening, millions of people all over the world look for a treatment for their restless leg syndrome. It is a painful and frustrating condition that robs these people and their partners of a good nights sleep. The exact cause of RLS is not known, although most research points to a problem with brain chemistry. Fortunately there are treatments that can help alleviate the symptoms but it can take some trial and error to find what will work best for each individual.

There are two trains of thought when it comes to treating RLS; natural treatments and over-the-counter or prescription drugs. Both have been shown to be effective in relieving the symptoms associated with RLS.

Natural Treatment – For many people with restless leg syndrome simply getting up and walking around alleviates the symptoms. The only problem is that its effects are most often felt in the evening or just after going to bed causing them to lose sleep.

For other taking warm baths, using a heating pad, rubbing a liniment such as Ben Gay on the are and even massage have all proven effective at symptomatic relief. The idea is to promote blood flow to the legs which has the benefit of soothing and relieving the symptoms.

Another area where many people can find relief is limiting or stopping the drinking of caffeinated drinks. A stimulant such as caffeine may be a cause of the signals sent by the brain through the nervous system to the legs that cause the creepy-crawly sensations that are a sign of RLS. It has been found that stopping the consumption of caffeine can have a positive effect when treating RLS.

Because it is believed that RLS may also be caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies taking vitamin and mineral supplements may be encouraged. For people with restless leg syndrome iron, along with a B12 or folate supplement, is an important part of any treatment regimen. Increasing iron in many cases can decrease or eliminate the symptoms all together.

Drug Therapy – Prescription drugs are used only for those who suffer the more severe symptoms of RLS and are used to treat the symptoms only; there is no known cure for this disease. There are four classes of drugs that are used to treat restless leg syndrome.

1. Dopaminergics – Used primarily to treat Parkinson’s disease, they increase the level of dopamine in the brain.

2. Benzodiazepines – Works as a sedative on the central nervous system. Prescribed primarily to help RLS sufferers sleep through the night.

3. Opiates – These drugs are used primarily to relieve pain and have been found to be effective in the treatment of restless leg syndrome.

4. Anticonvulsants – A class of drugs that work by suppressing sensory disturbances and severe muscle spasms.

As with any medical condition it is best to consult with your doctor before undertaking any type of treatment. If your restless leg syndrome symptoms continue or worsen when trying a new treatment it is in your best interest to talk to your doctor.

Stem Cell Treatment Abroad

Edit Article |

]]>

Stem cell research here in the U. S. is limited to three criteria put in place by George W. Bush in the year 2001:

• The derivation process was initiated prior to 9:00 P.M. EDT on August 9, 2001.

• The stem cells must have been derived from an embryo that was created for reproductive purposes and was no longer needed.

• Informed consent must have been obtained for the donation of the embryo and that donation must not have involved financial inducements.

The uses of stem cells in other countries however, have been taking place with great success. Stem cell therapy Mexico, China and India has been applied to patients with such chronic diseases as, cardiac disease, Parkinsonism, rheumatoid arthritis, Autism, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, and even stroke and spinal chord injuries. Extensive research is also taking place abroad for the use of stem cells as an alternative cancer treatment. In Canada, stem cell therapy is currently being applied to high-performance race horses for the repair of torn and damaged tendons and ligaments with great success. In this case, the stem cells were retrieved from the bone marrow of the injured horse, isolated and expanded in a lab, and re-injected into the horse at the site of injury using ultrasound technology. This type of stem cell use shows great promise for human application. At the Biogenetics Institute in Mexico, stem cells for therapy are derived from umbilical chord blood and cultured with specific growth factors and nutrients according to the treatment requirements. Here, the medical team of physicians and health professionals participate in a wide variety of medical fields and are dedicated to working with patients and families living with chronic disease. Visit www.biogenetictreatment.com for more information on stem cells and their available applications.
